PROTEST VOTE

ETFO steps up the pressure with democratic vote on “Day of Protest”

Concerned that the government could legislate collective bargaining strips, and worried over the lack of movement in the government’s position, ETFO steps up the pressure and puts forward the idea of holding a “day of protest” when school returns in the fall. To facilitate this, on June 22, the Federation holds a province-wide vote, and rallying to the cause, over 50,000 members vote 93% in favour.

Part of the credit for this level of participation goes to the Control Your Future website engaging members on an unprecedented level. On June 26, controlyourfuture.com and the Collective Bargaining eNewsletter were awarded Golden Leaf Awards, recognizing education communications material that is creative, original and conveys a clear message to its audience.
