ETFO members ratchet up pressure on McGuinty government

On September 28, ETFO members picket the Liberal leadership review in Ottawa. The OLP reaffirms the premier’s standing, but the event is marred by the continuing standoff with educators.

A day later, Ontario students hold a rally at Queen’s Park to protest Bill 115, while ETFO, OSSTF, CUPE and OPSEU launch a legal challenge against the controversial legislation. This comes after a number of OECTA members, whose union previously signed off on the imposed contracts, filed an OLRB complaint against their own executive for agreeing to the terms of the MOU.
