Larger class sizes would harm our youngest children, says the president of ETFO’s Ontario North East Teacher Local.

“By even contemplating larger class sizes, [the provincial] government is willing to sacrifice the safety and well-being of our youngest children,” said Lori Ridley-Whyte in an interview with 93.1 Moose FM radio, published on the MyTimminsNow website Jan. 31.

“Because of the fact we have students that are being integrated with higher special education needs and mental health issues,” she said, “so when they’re in those smaller class sizes they’re able to get the additional attention that they need from their teachers and from support staff.”
