TEACHER ALMOST LOST PREGNANCY AFTER REPEATED PUNCHES, OTHERS SLEEP WITH ‘VISIONS OF VIOLENCE’

The quotes from the education workers recounting violence in schools send shivers down Colleen Dietrich Sisson’s spine.

“I thought I knew everything that was happening, and I have to be honest, I was brought to tears as I was reading through these,” said Dietrich Sisson, president of the Educational Assistants Association for the Waterloo Region District School Board.

The quotes are chilling, posted across the wall at the Doubletree by Hilton in Kitchener on Thursday during a news conference hosted by Together in Education, a group representing the education workers from both the Waterloo Region District School Board and Waterloo Catholic District School Board.

“I almost lost a pregnancy after being repeatedly punched in the stomach.”

“It is hard to fall asleep with visions of violence in my head.”
