After being accused of failing to balance its budget, the Toronto District School Board has been taken over by the Progressive Conservative provincial government. This comes after the board was criticized for failing to keep its spending in line with the province’s “back-to-basics” agenda.
After the board warned it would have to close its pools, a government leader remarked, “I’m not saying swimming isn’t a good thing for young people, but it certainly isn’t the number one priority in the education system.”
