Media outlets and educational commentators across Ontario have expressed concerns regarding the issue of a “teacher shortage.”
Allegedly, this shortage is negatively impacting day-to-day work in Ontario public schools. However, when one considers the data, it seems that the “teacher shortage” is ultimately a myth and has more to do with the shortage of secure permanent teaching positions and the spread of temporary insecure work in our schools.
