ETFO collective agreements expire as of August 31, 2026. While that may seem like a long time away, ETFO starts preparing for the 2026 round of bargaining now.
ETFO’s goal in every bargaining round is to negotiate strong collective agreements that improve the working conditions of every member. To do that, your union needs to know what is important to you.
ETFO’s Surveying Process
In preparation for negotiations, ETFO has contracted a research firm called Strategic Communications Inc. (Stratcom) to determine members’ concerns and bargaining priorities. Here is a list of the ways that you may be contacted to participate:
- Online Survey by Email: On May 5, all members who have provided ETFO with an updated email address should have received an email entitled “ETFO 2026 All-Member Collective Bargaining Survey.” The email included a personalized unique link to participate in an online survey. The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and will be open until May 30.
- Telephone Survey: From May 12 to May 30, you may be asked to participate in a telephone survey about ETFO’s 2026 bargaining goals. During this time, a Stratcom interviewer will call a randomly selected group of ETFO members to participate in the bargaining survey by phone. Members who have already completed the online version of the survey will not need to participate in the phone survey. This will ensure your union receives input from as many members as possible.
- Virtual Focus Groups: In the fall, you will be invited to volunteer for a member focus group about ETFO’s 2026 bargaining goals. The two-hour focus groups will be conducted virtually during the instructional day in November. Alternatively, Stratcom may reach out to you directly by telephone to seek your participation in the focus groups. There is limited space in the focus groups and Stratcom may not be able to accommodate everyone who is interested. Efforts will be made to ensure regional and diverse representation to reflect the membership. If you are selected by the Stratcom research team, ETFO will arrange for release time.
Your participation is critical in defining and establishing ETFO’s overall goals for the 2026 round of collective bargaining. This is your opportunity to make sure ETFO has a comprehensive and accurate picture of our members’ bargaining priorities.
