The Alberta government has ordered teachers back to work through legislation tabled late Monday afternoon. 

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her government will table back-to-work legislation seeking to end the provincial teachers’ strike. Meanwhile, thousands of educators rallied outside the legislature demanding better support for education.

A back-to-work order is expected to be passed quickly. It’s not clear if teachers’ demands for improved classroom conditions will be addressed.
