Wednesday’s day of action by 275,000 teachers and support staff in schools across the province is a show of solidarity for the five big education unions, as negotiations with the government remain in limbo, said Joe Tigani, president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees’ school boards bargaining unit.
“It’s the second week we are back in school, and it’s a critical time to show our united strength,” added Tigani, who represents 55,000 education assistants, early childhood educators and custodians, among others.
